Dr. Umashankar Ganeshan, President: Umashankar is a development professional with over 25 years of demonstrated experience in the field of rural development and panchayati raj, micro-finance, livelihood promotion and disaster management. He worked as a Director, Centre for World Solidarity (CWS), Tamil Nadu. Besides, he worked with PRIA, New Delhi and has been offering consulting services to many bilateral and multilateral organisations and international agencies. Uma is a development professional with 18 years of work experience in national and international NGOs. He was instrumental in evolving a community based disaster preparedness and management model and promotion of livelihoods of single women affected by Tsunami in the form of SHG sans provision of micro-credit.
Uma is a career gold medalist and holds a Ph.D. on Panchayati Raj from Gandhigram Rural University, Tamil Nadu. He is a recipient of Indira Gandhi National Best Volunteer Award in 1996-97 and Bharathia Udhayaman National Award- 1997. To his credit, he has published numerous books and articles on local self-governance, women empowerment, not-for-profit sector and micro-finance in magazines & newsletters of national and international repute. Uma has been invited by the Tamil Television Channels as an expert to speak on various developmental issues on a regular basis.
Sandip Das, Vice President: Sandip worked as a Senior Correspondent with Financial Express. Prior to this, he worked with Business Standard, PTI, VANI, Consumer VOICE, PRIA and Centre for Science and Environment (CSE). Sandip has more than 17 years of substantial experience in developmental journalism. He had written features and stories for various national newspapers on issues related to livelihoods, women empowerment, environment, panchayati raj institutions and economic & corporate affairs. He writes extensively on socio-economic issues pertaining to rural and underprivileged communities in India. Sandip holds a Master degree in Political Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, New Delhi.
Ajaya Mohapatra, Secretary: Ajaya has 28 years of experience in the social sector working in India, spanning NGOs, chambers of commerce and bilateral agency. Ajaya is the co-founder of www.justrojgar.com, India’s first ever integrated employability platform and recipient of the 1st National Runner-up Award from NSDC under the ‘Power to Empower’ competition in 2012-13. Prior to the current assignment as CEO, We the People, Ajaya worked as a consultant to Bhartiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST) – CII for promoting PPP for micro-enterprise development. While working with BYST-CII, he was instrumental in designing public-private partnerships model and developing the unique mentor online training programme- for promoting micro-entrepreneurships, which was first of its kind in India. Besides BYST-CII, he worked with CASA, PHDRDF (Associate of PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry), PRIA, Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC-IC) and WWF-India.
He holds a Post Graduate degree in Rural Development from Xavier Institute of Social Services (XISS), Ranchi. He was awarded visiting fellowship by the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex (U.K.) for his outstanding contributions in strengthening institutions of local self-governance in India. He was a member of the State Advisory Committee on Panchayati Raj for the Government of Himachal Pradesh, India. He has demonstrated experience in the field of rural development & panchyati raj, livelihood promotion and micro-finance. As a professional trainer, he has so far imparted training to more than 20,000 representatives from PRIs, civil society organisations, SHGs and SHG Federations, government and corporate sector. He has published numerous books and articles on local self-governance, gender, livelihoods and micro-finance at the national and international level.
He is trained on entrepreneurship from Chicago School of Business, U.S. and Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia.
Arindam Barua, Treasurer: Arindam Barua has more than 30 years of experience, works with Plan International (India), Country Office in New Delhi. He looks after management of inward and outward remittances, country and program unit office accounting functions, budget preparation & consolidation, management information systems, statutory compliances, office administration and compliance of plan systems and procedures and audit administration. Prior to this assignment, Arindam has worked with WWF-India as Manager (Finance & Accounts) responsible for filing of FC-3 forms related to FCRA to Government of India, consolidation of budget proposals from various branches and divisions for approval of Board, finalisation of budget proposal for projects and finalizing Quarterly /Annual Financial Reports for submission to donors. He has more than 22 years of experience in the social sector. Arindam is a MBA from AIMA.
Arindam Pramanik, Member: Arindam has over 20 years of extensive experience in treasury, project financing, project coordination & accounting operations. Presently working as Senior Advisor, Fore Consultants Pvt. Ltd. Prior to this, he worked with Indus Knowledgeware providing consulting services to microfinance industry and Bhartiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST), a strategic partner to Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as Project Head (National Policy). He is skilled at analysing the financial viability of new ventures/ new projects and forecast the amount of project finance/ funds required and conceptualising and implementing financial procedures. He handled working capital management, internal financial controls & costing. He was actively involved in the maintenance & finalization of accounts. He has substantial experience in undertaking analysis, formulating policies & preparing effective financial models. He has largely worked in the corporate sector. He holds a diploma in Business Management (Finance) from Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad.
Harshvardhan Sharma, Member: Harsh is working with Plan India having over 15 years of professional experience in the development sector. Prior to his current assignment, Harsh has worked with Moser Bear and BYST. Harsh has domain expertise in the field of health, education, livelihodds, microfinance and micro enterprise development. Harsh has experience in the field of project planning and management, capacity building, networking. He holds a master degree in social work from Delhi School of Social Work, Delhi.
Deep Chandra Papnoi, Member: Deep has over 14 years of professional experience of working in NGOs of national and international repute such as Bhartiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST), Navjyoti India Foundation and Deepalaya. Currently, Deep is working with United Nations Global Compact Network (UNGCN).
He has extensive experience of working in the field of entrepreneurship development, livelihoods promotion, integrated community development, women empowerment and promoting education. He has demonstrated experince in networking and training. At present, he is working with BYST as a Chapter Coordinator for Delhi in promoting micro-entrepreneurship by providing institutional, technical and financial services to under-privileged entrepreneurs. Deep holds a master degree in Social Work from Indore School of Social Work (MP).

- Recognised as one of the best performing partners under DDUGKY Project by Madhya Pradesh Rural Livelihood Mission (MPSRLM) placed over 92% of the trained candidates with retention over 6-months. We The People was the only partner of MPSRLM to execute this project on the only LWE district of Madhya Pradesh.
- Ajaya Mohapatra, recognised by Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission (JKRLM) as an Excellent Trainer to offer training to JKRLM staff, SHGs and SHG Federations.
·- Provided livelihoods and livelihood services to over 1,00,000 households from lower income groups spread across Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and Rajasthan through public-private partnerships (PPP).
- Offered financial inclusion services (including savings, micro-credit, pension and insurance) to 6000 families, both in rural and urban areas of Himachal Pradesh and Delhi respectively and impacted in increase in their income through self-employment and micro-enterprise development.
-Trained and placed over 20,000 candidates in Hospitality, Transport and Logistics, Retail & Sales, IT & ITeS and BFSI in Delhi & NCR, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Punjab, and Odisha: Candidates were placed in reputed organizations like Motherson Sumi, Yazaki India, Aviva life insurance, Batra hospital, DLF, McDonalds, Wipro, SERCO, Competent BPO, TATA BPO, to name a few; Candidates saw an average increase in income of over 40% after 3 months of classroom and on-the-job training.
- Partnered with Private Sector Banks and Nationalised Banks and Field NGOs for promoting self-employment and income generation by supporting more than 500 rural households through 50 Women SHGs in Una district, Himachal Pradesh in FY 06-07 & 07-08.
- Partnered with NABARD, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh, Nationalised Banks and Field NGOs for promoting self-employment and income generation by supporting more than 7000 rural households through 700 Women SHGs in Sirmour district in FY 12-13 & 13-14.
- Supported over 1500 women and farmers through SHGs and Farmer Producer Company in Bilaspur district Himachal Pradesh for livelihoods promotion in partnerships with ACC Ltd. in FY 14-15 & 15-16.
- Partnering with Delhi Police under YUVA for offering skills training to the under-educated and under-skilled youth at the BoP. So far, skills trained over 150 candidates and placed more than 115 candidates.

To promote skills and lifelong employment opportunities amongst youth and women, Justrojgar works through a ‘Skill Eco-System Approach Model (SEAM)’ that includes sourcing, skilling, placement/ outsourcing/ self-employment and post-placement/ self-employment services through public-private partnerships (PPP) and multi-stakeholders’ engagement including government, corporate sector, NGOs, NSDC and sector skills council.
